Aa must do while in Cairns is to visit the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park. We went to the night show which I must say is pretty amazing. Not only do you get to learn about the Tjapukai Aboriginals but you get a great meal as well. HIghly recommend a visit in the day as well.
Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park enables guests to immerse themselves in traditional Tjapukai culture with authentic music, dance and storytelling by the Tjapukai people. The world’s oldest living culture is brought to life by Aboriginal performers who engage guests with interactive activities such as didgeridoo playing, face painting and boomerang throwing and educate them about Cairns & the Great Barrier Reef’s traditional rainforest people.
Founded more than 25 years ago, Thapukai is Australia’s largest Indigenous cultural park and is in the Guinness Book of Records as Australia’s longest running stage show. The Cultural Park has been built on Traditional Tjapukai land in a beautiful rainforest setting to highlight environment enjoyed by the Indigenous people of the Cairns Wet Tropics Rainforest.
Tjapukai by Night takes you on a magical adventure discovering the legends of Australia’s Dreamtime.
The people of the rainforest share their culture during an evening of spectacular entertainment where you join a traditional Tjapukai corroboree.
